Recommended Accessories
Devices and accessories I personally recommend for your streaming backpack.
Battery Packs
Anker 20000mAh Power Bank: The best battery pack for the price. It can power my Jetson Nano Belabox for about 10 hours (with three phones plugged into the Belabox, sharing data, and being charged by the pack as well). I wouldn't power a LiveU with this one.
Anker 25600mAH 87W Power Bank: This one is pricy, but packs a lot more power delivery. It's not really necessary in most cases, but is great for powering other devices you may use, like the M1 Nighthawk Modem. I wouldn't power a LiveU with this one.
Anker 40000mAh Power Bank: Overkill, twich as much power as the first recommendation.
Shargeek 25600mAh 100W Portable Charger: This is what Ice Poseidon uses to power his LiveU Pro backpack.
Anker 24000mAh 140W Portable Charger: This one will power a LiveU, and it's cheaper than the Shargeek one. I also just like it better honestly.
UnlimitedIRL Power X1 Battery: The battery that UnlimitedIRL sells and recommends to power your LiveU.
Modems
NETGEAR Nighthawk M1 (Unlocked): This modem, paired with the right plan, will be your best friend. I'm going to tell you how to get it. First, you may notice this modem is expensive. Pair that with a $20/month unlimited plan though, and you've saved money in no time. It never gets throttled. I even used it as my main connection when I had a broken leg and no other internet, and I felt right at home using it.
To get that $20/month plan, check out The M1 Nighthawk / AT&T Loophole Method.
CELL PHONES: I've noticed so many people in this space using USB modems, and that's great, but I use cell phones. Specifically Samsung Galaxy devices. I currently share connections via USB from a Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, and a Galaxy S24, and they're all great. If you're picking it up just for the modem, pick up an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10e.
Because I have three phones I use as modems (here in the USA), I have three recommendations for you:
Straight Talk ($255/6 month plan) - Advertises unlimited data + 10gb mobile hotspot. In my experience, USB data sharing with this plan uses regular data, not mobile hotspot data, making it a cheap and reliable plan. I use this one in the Samsung Galaxy S10e.
AT&T Unlimited - Advertises unlimited, but mobile hotspot slowed to 128Kbps after cap. I haven't experienced throttling yet using the USB data sharing. I use this one in the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G.
Verizon Unlimited - Advertises unlimited, but mobile hotspot speed capped after limit reached. I haven't experienced throttling yet using the USB data sharing. I use this one in the Samsung Galaxy S24.
Belabox Community Recommendations: The Belabox community has a list of modems they recommend on this link.
UnlimitedIRL LiveU Modems: These are expensive, but they're also really good. More than the modems themselves, the real value comes with the also expensive data plans. These data plans have the ability to change between several providers, and you have the ability to use them in a ton of countries worldwide.
Backpacks
Tamrac Tradewind 18L: This is the exact backpack included with the UnlimitedIRL backpack. The only difference is they add an UnlimitedIRL patch to it when they build them and ship them out. Great if you're doing your own LiveU setup.
Victoriatourist Laptop Backpack: This is the exact backpack I use for my Belabox setup. The thought process was that a slimmer backpack would be more acceptable in places like bars and museums, and I believe it's true. I still get turned away sometimes for having a backpack at all though.
Mesh Backpack: I own one of these, but I haven't actually had to use it yet. If it's simply too hot and everything is overheating, a mesh backpack is your best shot to let everything get wind flow.
Important Accessories
Stuntman Backpack Camera Mount: This is the backpack mount that most streamers use. There are a lot of cheap alternatives, but this is the best one. It is also the one that ships with the UnlimitedIRL backpack.
Backpack Spacer: One of these can be a lifesaver for your back when it's hot. Your back is going to get sweaty from wearing a backpack, and this simple spacer will heavily cut down on that.
Cocoon GRID-IT: Cocoon really did it with their GRID-IT! line of products. I use the specific one linked here told hold my Belabox setup together. They also make them in several other sizes though, and even a couple of backpacks. Check it out.
Battery Powered Fan: You'll have to shop around to find the right one for you, but a rechargeable battery powered fan can be a lifesaver for keeping the items in your backpack cool if they're getting too hot.
