Introduction

Chances are if you're here, you have discovered that the Android device you already have and are trying to using has some sort of problem (usually overheating). I have also experienced this on various devices, including the brand new Samsung Galaxy S24. Because of this, I have decided to include this section.

Top Recommended Device

I am currently using the . I personally recommend it, but make sure you reference The Bottom Line (Issues) at the bottom of this page. For beginners on a budget, I recommend the for Android-based IRL Streaming. A quick comparison of the shows that both feature a similar 12 MP ultrawide camera (which I personally favor over the other cameras), with the S20 FE 5G having the wider ultrawide angle. Side-by-side, the S20 FE 5G ultrawide angle appears much larger in use. The S20 FE 5G also features a 32 MP selfie camera, where the S24 Ultra only offers a 12 MP selfie camera. On top of this, the S20 FE 5G also has a microSD slot, which is great for storing those HD recordings of your streams, should you choose to back them up. The S20 is also the only modern Samsung device that I have not experienced serious overheating issues with while IRL Streaming with IRL Pro. With all that being said, you can also pick up an unlocked refurbished or used for under $200 on Amazon.

Included below are comparisons of screenshots taken using IRL Pro of the S20 FE 5G, S24, and S10e which show the much wider angle in practice that you get using the S20 FE 5G.

This is the device I'm currently using. I tested it a little bit with IRL Pro and Prism Live Studio. With IRL Pro, the battery drained very quickly, even while charging indoors in a closed environment. While IRL, I use the cheaper cooling phone holder from Recommended Accessories, though I typically don't have it actually powered on. With Prism Live Studio, it appeared to work fine, but I still prefer (and use) IRL Pro.

The Bottom Line (Issues)

The truth is with these newer Samsung Galaxy devices, while they are the best, charging and heat management is extremely important. I wish I currently remembered the exact temperature, but at a certain temperature, the newer Samsung Galaxy devices have a safety feature that limits the charging power to prevent it from getting too hot, which means it will die faster than it is charging while you're streaming. TYPICALLY, using the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra while IRL, this isn't really an issue, because the movement and being outside with the wind, it manages to stay under this temperature. However, I strongly recommend if you are experiencing these issues to purchase one of the cooling phone holders from Recommended Accessories. These go great with the battery-powered selfie sticks, as you can use those to power the cooling phone holders.

If you have any recommendations, let me know!

If you're really pressed for cash and just need something that will work that's more in the $100 range, check out the , which I have personally seen many other smaller IRL Streamers using. With this device, I know it works very well with Prism Live Studio and I can't guarantee that it would work well with IRL Pro, which I can say about the S20 FE 5G. Just a couple of years ago, I would travel with 2 of these as backup devices just in case I or someone else with me needed something on the fly.

I haven't been hands on with one of these, but I know a few people in this space that use them. Both and used the S23 with IRL Pro and seemed to have no problems. However, another personal friend, , did have battery drain issues using it. He had no issues with it using Prism Live Studio. I have never personally used one, but it is something to consider.
