# Recommended Accessories

## Battery Packs:

Battery Packs are a **MUST** in IRL Streaming. However, there are 4 simple factors to a battery pack that matter most:\
\
mAh - This is the battery size. 20000 mAh is the standard for phone streaming, because it should be enough to get you through a full day and end the night with 100%. If you don't need that, 10000 mAh may work for you, but I don't carry a battery under 20000 mAh. It's important to get a good battery though, as cheap ones may have 20000 mAh, but low voltage, ultimately meaning low Wh (watt-hours).

Wattage/Voltage - This is how fast the battery pack can deliver power, typically in ranges between 5W-120W. 5W is considered slow, 18W is considered common for fast charging, 25W is super fast, 45W is super fast 2.0, and 60W is super fast 3.0. Devices like laptops typically need 65W, and a Starlink Mini for example needs access to 100W+ for peak demand. For reference, at 5W a newer smartphone will typically drain faster than it charges while streaming. It will extend your stream, but the phone will eventually die.

Heat - Virtually every new smartphone has built-in protections that you cannot alter for things like overheating. New Samsungs for example will cap charging at 5W if the phone is too hot, no matter how much the battery could provide. See [#cooling-phone-mount](#cooling-phone-mount "mention") below for a great solution to that.

Cable - The cable matters heavily here too. You can have the best battery pack, but a cheap cable may limit the power delivery. Don't spend a lot on a battery and then 3 dollars on a cable.\
\
Here are my recommendations:

[**Amazon Overall Pick**](https://amzn.to/4opP7HM): $29.99 - 20000 mAh/45W I don't know the INIU brand, but Anker dropped their cheaper batteries in favor of higher wattage, which means they cost more. This one is the Amazon Overall Pick, and by spec it actually beats the cheaper Anker now with higher wattage.

[**Cheapest New Anker**](https://amzn.to/4xmwSqD): $42.99 - 20000mAh/30W - Anker dropped their cheaper batteries in favor of this newer one with higher wattage. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I trust the brand.

[**Most 'Juice' Option**](https://amzn.to/4hJuGSt): 39.99 - 60000mAh/22.5W - I've never owned or needed one of these, but if you expect to not be able to access a wall charger for some time, this option should keep you going for multiple days. Anker used to offer a 40000mAh version of this, but they don't anymore. This generic one - if it delivers what it advertises - claims to be better at about half the price.

[**High Wattage Option (Last Gen)**](https://amzn.to/4hOZe5E): $109.99 - 24000mAh/140W - Supports Turbo Charging, great for other devices as well.

[**High Wattage Option (Current Gen)**](https://amzn.to/3JgQzw0): $229.99 - 26250mAh/140W - Supports Turbo Charging, less bulky than last gen. This is the battery pack I am currently using. **I use this one.**

## Cables:

Cables **DO** matter. You want high quality cables that support enough wattage and aren't going to wear out easily.

[**Supervooc USB-C**](https://amzn.to/4r5Ujl3): The cables I currently use and recommend the most for super fast charging! **I use this one.**

[**Anker USB-C**](https://amzn.to/47Qp3ib): The cables I used for years and still have as backups.

[**Anker USB-A**](https://amzn.to/4p9onuJ): If you need USB-A to USB-C, these are the best. Keep in mind most battery packs deliver much higher power over USB-C to USB-C than USB-A to USB-C.

## Selfie Sticks / Phone Holders:

You can get a normal selfie stick that will work for cheap at a local Walmart or Best Buy, but that doesn't mean you should. Check out these various options to find the perfect selfie stick for your situation:

[**Battery Pack Selfie Stick**](https://amzn.to/4hFdXjc): 10000mAh built right into the stick. Charge the phone with a short cable and you won't have to deal with carrying around a battery pack and long cables. I strongly recommend the [#metal-tripod-attachment](#metal-tripod-attachment "mention") as well as one of the phone holders below.

[**Extendable Selfie Stick**](https://amzn.to/4poSo9u): This one goes up 5 feet. I've seen a lot of other people use them who like to be able to have their stream face-level without having to hold it. It is very recognizable as the one with the orange ring around it.

[**High Quality Selfie Stick**](https://amzn.to/43K10io): The go-to stick for years, high quality, long lasting. You used to be able to get them at Best Buy.

[**Discreet Travel Selfie Stick**](https://amzn.to/492DqRF): I use this one all the time. It folds up extremely small and pocket size, and is easy to take into places where most selfie sticks are typically denied, like concerts, carnivals, events, etc. **I use this one the most.**

[**The Tallest Selfie Stick**](https://amzn.to/4pqsT7L): 9.8 feet of selfie stick! This one is kind of ridiculous, but I've used it on occasion. You can get some angles with it that nobody else is getting. No feet, but check out the [#metal-tripod-attachment](#metal-tripod-attachment "mention") as it kind of works on this one at reasonable heights.

[**Disney Friendly Phone Holder**](https://amzn.to/4pdF6g3): Specific phone holder which Disney World in Florida allows on rides (non-extendable, small, can be wrapped around ride bars to prevent dropping)

[**Neck Phone Holder**](https://amzn.to/3LlU3Oo): Better than chest mounts in my opinion! Phone holder you wear like a necklace. I like this one, but I do recommend using different [#phone-mounts](#phone-mounts "mention") than the one that comes with it.

[**High Quality Car Phone Holder**](https://amzn.to/3WYPf49): Metal windshield / window suction cup phone holder I personally use.

## Phone Mounts:

Many selfie sticks you will find and purchase include cheap plastic phone mount attachments that are not good causing your phone to easily fall out. These are the phone mounts I recommend.

[**Joby GripTight Mount Pro**](https://amzn.to/48B7v6L): Very high quality metal phone mount.

[**Leaplumin Aluminum Phone Mount**](https://amzn.to/4qCVk3z): Cheaper metal option, and includes a cold shoe mount, great for holding a wireless mic receiver.

[**Simple Plastic Mount**](https://amzn.to/49y1LPh): Cheapest option, but not by much. One of the best plastic mounts I've ever used, and I use it with the Neck Phone Holder from above to save a little weight.

[**Joby GripTight PRO Mount for Tablets**](https://amzn.to/3uUt2tn): Really the only good solution I've seen for tablets. I've never streamed IRL from a tablet, but maybe you want to.

## Cooling Phone Mount:

Deserving of a category of its own, **these really work**. They do require being powered via USB (no battery built in), but they actually cool the phone extremely effectively to avoid or deal with overheating issues.

[**Black Shark FunCooler 5 NEO**](https://amzn.to/43eOlUF): This used to be the only brand that offered a phone cooler that you could also put on a selfie stick. It works great, looks nice, and feels sturdy. **I use this one.**

[**Jremreo Phone Cooler**](https://amzn.to/3QgWYul): This one is newer, a little cheaper, and offers 3 fan speed settings. I haven't actually used one of these, and I can and do vouch for the Black Shark FunCooler, but it's nice to see there's more than one brand in the market now.

## Metal Tripod Attachment:

Like phone mounts, many selfie sticks you find and purchase include cheap plastic tripods that are not good and easily break. It sucks to be IRL Streaming and your tripod breaks.

[**Zeadio Metal Mini Tripod**](https://amzn.to/3IjIK4k): Just a cheap, reliable, and universal metal tripod. I do also travel with a [folding hex key set](https://amzn.to/43gorzP) to easily tighten the legs when necessary. You can just carry the specific key for this, but I find it's easier to remember and harder to lose carrying the set.

## Bluetooth Speaker (For Alerts):

Nobody wants to send a Text-to-Speech message if it comes out at whisper volume from your phone speaker. They want people around you to hear what they're saying, or to hear the alert when they subscribe to you. At the end of the day, any Bluetooth speaker is better than no Bluetooth speaker, but quality, battery life, and volume do matter.

[**Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4**](https://amzn.to/4lzW5rA): Solid and very popular IRL Streaming speaker. It can be as loud as you want it, and more than loud enough to please your supporters. **I use this one the most for big IRL events.**

[**JBL Clip 5**](https://amzn.to/4hFMjTi): Very popular, compact, lightweight - but much more quiet - IRL Streaming speaker. **I use this one the most at home and in the car.**

[**Generic Carabiner Clips**](https://amzn.to/48BpfPi): With many speakers, including the Wonderboom, you need a way to attach it to your backpack, pants, etc. Just use a carabiner.

## Microphones:

Microphones are totally not necessary for IRL Streaming. Most people don't use them. A lot of the biggest streamers do. The only real advantage I've personally experienced using them is being able to walk a good distance away from the camera and still being heard clearly.\
\
[**DJI Mic Mini**](https://amzn.to/3GhRc6q): THIS ONE IS THE BEST. It is newer than the popular DJI Mic 2, and includes improved two-level noise cancelling, and automatic audio clipping prevention. The DJI Mic 2 does not have any audio clipping prevention. The DJI Mic Mini also comes out of the box with a phone adapter that allows you to plug it into the phone, and charge the phone and receiver at the same time via Type-C, so no need for a splitter (required for the other options if you want to charge your phone while using the mics). On top of all of that, it's much cheaper. You can get a one receiver, one mic package brand new for only $89 USD direct from DJI. - **Note**: That included Type-C adapter is prone to breaking easily. I was told at the DJI store in Miami that this is the most requested replacement part for these mics. I've had to purchase 2 replacements already from dropping my phone while streaming. I recommend the [iMusk adapter](https://amzn.to/48oYgK0) as it is a little cheaper and works exactly as expected. **I use this one.**

[**RODE Wireless Go II Wireless Microphones**](https://amzn.to/4bTDj9Z): The most popular wireless microphones for IRL Streaming. You may have seen your favorite IRL Streamer using these. I used these personally until the DJI Mic Mini launched. The big downside in my opinion was the need to use a USB splitter cable to be able to charge my phone while using the mics.

[**DJI Mic 2 Microphones**](https://amzn.to/3P1zg1s): I've seen some others using these, and they say they're better. They are also more expensive.

Cold Shoe Mounts: If your phone or camera mount doesn't have a place to mount the receiver, I recommend the [**SmallRig Cold Shoe Mount**](https://amzn.to/3V0clr8) (requires screw hole on top of phone mount) pack or the [**Insta360 Cold Shoe Extension Bracket**](https://amzn.to/43380p1).

## Lighting:

If you want or need the option to have external lighting, these are my recommendations. I've used both, but I don't actually use lighting attachments ever.

[**GoPro Light Mod**](https://amzn.to/49pxqj7): This doesn't require a GoPro, and works very well. The soft light cover is important, don't lose it! I'd personally probably glue it on.

[**ULANZI Vlogging Light**](https://amzn.to/3wCVX5R): Much cheaper than the GoPro alternative, reliable, but doesn't look as nice.

## More:

[**Anker Prime Charger (Type C + A)**](https://amzn.to/4hFN7Yk): If you're traveling for IRL, you need a reliable charging station to use. This simply turns one wall outlet into four USB-C and two USB-A outlets. There are cheaper alternatives, I've tried them, they haven't been reliable. **I use this one.**

[**TomToc Crossbody Bag**](https://amzn.to/3Sh4lTc): I've finally been converted, and I now use this for every IRL stream. No longer are my pockets stuffed with various accessories, and it's really nice actually. I highly recommend a good crossbody bag for IRL streaming.

[**Carry on Backpack**](https://amzn.to/42URiZ7): This may not be something you've thought about, but if you're going to be flying a lot, maximize your load by getting a backpack that is as big as it can be and still be a carry on. I have personally used this backpack as my **free personal item** and have never had an issue on cheap flights, but read the reviews, some people do claim they have been stopped and forced to pay extra. The idea with the backpack over a rolling bag is that on flights where you get no free carry on, you can usually slip by with this as they just think it's any other backpack.

[**Verage Carry On Underseat**](https://amzn.to/4edhLab): I actually love this bag. I hate traveling with backpacks. They're heavy, and if it's hot out, they make you hotter. I purchased this bag to replace my backpack and I'm not looking back. I would still use that Carry on Backpack though for a cheap flight that doesn't include a carry on in the price to try my luck.

[**Stadium/Event Approved Backpack**](https://amzn.to/3xdvNHv): This may also be something you have not thought about, but if you're planning to stream at big stadium events, concerts, etc., venues generally have a clear bag policy with sizing limitations, usually 12x12x6. This one is great for carrying extra battery packs, cables, and anything else you may want or need.
